CASE / 003
Sweet Bonanza · An Australian English escape
Three sweets. One secret.
Welcome to the Bonbon Arcade, a Sweet Bonanza world of curious cabinets and edible clues. Read the evidence and open a little mystery.

Eight clues
Your deduction
The cabinet keeps a careful secret
Five sweet symbols can appear in three positions, including repeats. Your job is to turn the slots, check a combination and compare the clue with what you already know. Eight guesses make one case.

A key made from a useful clue
Exact means a sweet occupies its correct position. Elsewhere means a remaining sweet belongs in the code, but in a different slot. Together the counts describe the guess without pointing to individual positions.

Bonbon Cipher
Your case procedure.
Turn the three dials
Activate a slot to cycle through five named sweets. Repeating a symbol in more than one position is allowed.
Submit a complete theory
Check combination records the displayed three-sweet guess and consumes one attempt.
Separate position from presence
Exact counts correct slots. Elsewhere counts unmatched sweets that occur in other positions, respecting the number of copies in the secret.
Close the case
Three exact matches solve the cipher. After eight unsuccessful guesses the secret is revealed; New cabinet code resets the log.
Follow the plum passage
Repeated symbols are possible, but clues count only as many copies as the hidden code contains. Exact matches are set aside before elsewhere matches are counted. This prevents one hidden sweet from explaining two guesses.

Test one idea at a time.
Exact
A sweet and its position agree.
Elsewhere
A remaining sweet belongs in another slot.
Missing
Uncounted copies give no additional evidence.

The sherbet library keeps receipts
Every checked combination stays in a visible clue log. Keep a promising part of a guess steady while testing another part. A deliberate comparison often tells you more than changing all three slots at once.
A few useful answers
Bonbon Cipher, explained.
Can the same sweet occur three times?
Yes. Every hidden position is chosen from the same five symbols, independently.
Does Elsewhere tell me which slot is wrong?
No. It is a total for the remaining matching sweets, after exact positions have been removed.
Does turning a dial use a guess?
Only Check combination spends an attempt. You can adjust the slots freely beforehand.
An unwrapped courtyard
When the case closes, the secret is shown if you used all eight attempts. You can begin a new cabinet code or simply enjoy the courtyard. Unlocking this mystery offers satisfaction, never a paid reward.
